    Step 1

    Contact us - and we'll send you more information about the services that we provide. We will also explain what information we need from you to agree a THIAS Home Damp Survey.

    Step 2

    We can discuss your ideas and priorities with you before arranging a home visit. We will normally take some basic information, for example: the age of your property; the type of construction; how many occupants are living in the home, etc; and what your plans for the future are. We can then determine whether your home would benefit from a full damp survey or a more limited inspection.

    Step 3

    We will agree a time and date with you for the survey. This gives you an opportunity to collate any additional information that we may need.

    Step 4

    First, we measure your home and collect information on the damp issues affecting your property. We'll look at what improvements have been made so far and where to focus on for the future. We aim to find the areas of greatest future potential.

    For example:

    • We look at the fabric of your home: our aim is to determine the most appropriate forms of remedial works suitable to the construction of the property - based on the age and type of construction.
    • We also look at any existing old damp proofing that may be applicable.
    • We will inspect the condition of your internal plaster as well as general ventilation.
    • We use the latest technology and surveying techniques when compiling your survey.

    Step 6

    We will talk to you about your plans, especially if you are looking to extend and remodel your home - as renovating or extending a home is often the best time to make any improvements.

    Step 7

    We collect all the required information - and prepare a project plan detailing the most appropriate improvements, including: short term; to do now items; ranging to long term plans - which can be worked into a home renovation plan.

    Step 8

    We will discuss our recommendations with you - and then prepare the specifications for the proposed work, enabling contractors to work to a pre agreed plan.

    We will send you the report, to ensure that you are happy with our proposals.

    Step 9

    We can project manage the work for you - and oversee the entire process - from the planning stage to the completed work - ensuring that both the materials used and the workmanship of the project is to the highest standards.

    Prices - What does a THIAS Home Damp and Remedial Survey cost?

    As a guide we find that there are two options, which would suit most budgets:

    Option 1 - THIAS Home Damp Survey

    The fully bespoke THIAS Home Damp Survey, including a technical report and specifications, is typically £150-£200 for a normal family home with up to 3 or 4 bedrooms. This is a bespoke service ideally suited for homeowners who may be undertaking a larger project improving and renovating a home, and need advice and help managing the work.

    Larger homes with more than 4 bedrooms will cost more - and where severe damp issues are part of a more comprehensive renovation project.
    The cost would typically be £350-£400.

    We can normally give an accurate price based on what you tell us over the phone. If you're planning major build work and renovations then we can look at your plans and price the job accordingly.

    Option 2 - THIAS Condensation and mould Report

    In some cases a whole house survey and report is not required, the survey may be limited to certain locations within the home.
    However, there is still an opportunity to have the property properly assessed for a specific job, and we can provide a survey that is both informative and useful.

    Typically the price for a Damp and Condensation Audit & Technical Report would be £125-£150.00 - this report is ideally suited for a one off project, or for specific problems, eg; ventilation issues, or black mould remediation services.

    The service includes a specification for any proposed work.
