Work undertaken between January 2021 and July 2021.
A brick-built mid-terrace property from the mid to late 1800s.
Renovation Project
Work started in January 2021, and was to be done in stages .
The client contacted THIAS in 2020 and requested a whole house damp and retrofit survey, the client was concerned about heat loss and rising energy bills, and signs of internal damp, the homeowner wanted to make significant improvements to the home at the same time as resolving the damp problems.
A detailed survey and assessment was carried out at the property, highlighting areas of significant ground floor dampness, and areas of the home that would require further remedial repairs.
The property needed significant up-grading and modernisation to make it warmer and more comfortable for the future.
The survey and report provided by Retrofit Projects allowed the client to fully appreciate the extent of the work required, and the expected costs and duration of the project.

Stage 1
The work was undertaken in two parts, the main project was to deal with significant salting and perishing plaster and internal dampness, including dealing with an existing solid concrete floor that did not have any form of damp proof membrane.
The entire ground floor was stripped out, and all the old defective plaster was removed.
The property was heated and dried out prior to remedials works starting.
Stage 2
Ground floor remedial works.
Replastering using a renovating plaster system, and specialist treatments to stop both dampness and salts returning in the future.
A liquid DPM was applied to the ground floor, followed by a levelling compound.
The property was fully decorated, with all new skirting boards and internal joinery, as well as a fully modernised kitchen.
Working with the clients’ interior designer, and with a team of contractors, we were able to complete the project within the expected timescales.
All work undertaken is covered by a full guarantee on both labour and materials.
