Extensive renovation work and specialist retrofit solutions
The clients contacted Retrofit Projects in early 2024 and requested a whole house retrofit survey, including thermal imaging. They were concerned about rising energy bills and also wanted to make significant improvements to the exterior of their home, with new rendering including EWI (External wall insulation).
A detailed survey was carried out of the property. The retrofit assessment covered all aspects of the property. The house was cavity wall construction and was insulated. It was found that the base of the cavity had debris at the bottom of the walls and the old metal wall ties needed to be replaced.
The client’s priority was to deal with some internal damp issues before any external insulation work was undertaken.
The property needed significant upgrading and modernisation to make it warmer and more comfortable for the future.
The survey and report provided by Retrofit Projects allowed the client to fully appreciate the extent of the work required and the expected costs and duration of the project.
Stage 1
Retrofit Projects provided a full retrofit survey, including a thermal imaging report, damp report and a wall tie report and specification.
Following the survey
Works organised by our project management team, and approved contractors.
Stage 2
The existing cavity wall blown fibre insulation was removed, and a full cavity cleaning process was undertaken to clear out debris at the base of the walls.
Stage 3
The existing wall ties were removed, and new stainless-steel ties were inserted, the damaged and cracked render was removed.
Stage 4
Following cavity cleaning and installing new wall ties, the property was insulated using the EPS bonded bead system. The loft space was also insulated.
Stage 5
The existing PVCu windows were replaced with new `A` rated windows frames and a new front door.
Stage 6
The property was finished externally using an approved and guaranteed specialist rendering system, maintaining the character of the home.
The work was completed in Autum 2024.
Further work is planned for spring 2025 to complete the exterior painting and some roof repairs.
All work undertaken is covered by a full guarantee on both labour and materials.
